SENNETT FOR DISTRICT ATTORNEY ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN EVENTS
Jonathan R. Sennett Uses Silent Art Auction and House Parties To Connect with Voters
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (May 9, 2007) Jonathan R. Sennett, Democratic candidate for Ulster County District Attorney, will host a fundraiser on Tuesday May 29 at the Gilded Otter featuring a silent auction showcasing the works of local artists and contributions from local businesses. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the New Paltz restaurant located at 3 Main Street.
“Part of my campaign platform is to preserve and protect the quality of life here in Ulster County. The artwork will include images of homes, communities and locations we must safeguard,” said Sennett.
The campaign is seeking artists to donate their work in exchange for a percentage of the profits as well as guests who want to bid on the works of art. Some members of the event’s host committee include: Hon. Susan Zimet, Hon. Hector Rodriguez and Hon. Toni Hokanson, Hon. Pat McDonough and Mr. Stephen T. Casa, according to Mr. Sennett. “We see this event as a tribute to the thriving local arts community and as a chance to benefit the community at large as well” said Sennett.
Mr. Sennett, a former Bronx County prosecutor and an attorney in private practice in Ulster County, is also scheduling house parties around the county to meet and greet voters. “I wanted a more personal, interactive forum.” said Sennett, “When it was discussed, there were several people who offered their homes, and I didn’t want to pass up this opportunity. To go directly to the people, the voters, that is how we believe a campaign should be run.”
The first of the meet and greet gatherings will take place on May 20 at the Home of Stephen and Lisa Casa of New Paltz. “Jonathan is our best choice for Ulster District Attorney and I want to help get the word out,” said Steve Casa.
Sennett also hopes that by having house parties, he will be giving residents an opportunity to voice their concerns more comprehensively. “Many times people have personal issues they want to discuss that may not be appropriate for a town meeting,” said Sennett, “I want them to know that I am willing to sit down and hear their concerns. As District Attorney I will be accountable to all, representing all effectively”.
Mr. Sennett’s platform consists of plans to bring the law enforcement community closer together by fostering greater communication and collaboration.
