A few short days ago, members of the Ulster County Democratic Committee participated in an event that will change the course of this great county's history.
They showed steadfast dedication to the democratic process at the Ulster County
Democratic Convention and nominated me as their choice for district attorney.
We are now one step closer to having a Democratic District Attorney in this
county for the first time in living memory.
I am both honored and humbled to receive the Democratic Party's endorsement
for the pivotal post of Ulster County District Attorney. It is essential
that we now act with solidarity and a sense of purpose and mission. We must
embrace the enormous potential of our collective action.
We must honor our party's mission to work constructively, for the benefit of
all Ulster County citizens. In addition, we must show that our mission is
more than just words. Our actions must demonstrate that we believe in
bridging our differences, not segregating and demeaning one another because
of those differences.
The Republicans have a highly qualified candidate running for the same
office and have a great deal to lose in this race. They will undoubtedly be
committing significant resources to this race.
In order for us to win in November, we need to rally around the endorsement
and elect the most qualified candidate. I have handled cases in every type
of court in Ulster County and tried cases in Family Court, County Court,
State Supreme Court and Justice Court. Prior to my work as a defense
attorney, I brought approximately 30 violent felony cases to trial as an
assistant district attorney in the Bronx. Furthermore, I led a team of
assistant district attorneys carrying a case load approximately equal to
that of the current Ulster County Court docket.
I respectfully call upon all members of the Democratic Party to work
together - not against each other in a primary - to ensure we do not lose
the ground we have gained in recent elections.
